Fall is in the air!

Recently I have found some fun activities for the kids to do for Halloween. Our first project was making a witch. She is now hanging out on our back door.
This year at Preschool they recommended that we only bring store bought snacks and that they remain fairly healthy. I was kind of bummed because I found all of these fun ideas for snacks but they would have to be homemade. Just recently did I find this idea and I thought the kids in preschool would enjoy it!
Today was a sick day for Tyler and I. I knew the kids were going to get sick of the being inside so I found some fun Halloween crafts to do with them. We made bats out of toilet paper rolls and pumpkins. I think overall they had a pretty good day being stuck inside.

New addition in our home

Recently my sister found these cabinets at a garage sale and we decided to turn them into a backpack rack for our kids.(Saw it on Pinterest.) I think they turned out great! I love having it in the laundry room where the kids leave to go to school. They can just grab their backpacks or coats and head to school.

The Tooth Fairy Came!

It's been a while since I have blogged. It has been a busy lately. On September 15th I got a call at work from Tyler and the kids telling me that the tooth fairy would be coming to our house tonight. Tyler tied floss to her tooth and pulled it out! I couldn't believe it until I heard why she let him! He told Brooklyn that if she let him pull out her tooth that she didn't have to ride Tower of Terror when we go to Disneyland! I guess she REALLY didn't want to ride that ride!
The tooth fairy gave Brooklyn a sparkly ten dollar bill. I guess the tooth fairy felt bad that the tooth may have not been completely ready to be pulled yet! :) She is still holding onto that sparkly ten to spend at Disneyland.

What Brookie learned today

Today Brooklyn came home so excited to show me what she learned. I was so proud of her for being able to remember what she was taught! Here is the video I took of her telling me what she learned. :)

Picture day

Wednesday was picture day for Brooklyn. Since both kids looked so cute for school I had to get some pictures. Since they turned out so darn cute...I had to share them with you all!
I hope her pictures turn out as good as these. She just keeps getting cuter. I love this little girl.
My favorite picture of my kids together. I am so blessed to be their mom!

First day of Preschool

This week was Trace's first day of Preschool. He was pretty excited that it was finally his turn to go to school.

He goes M/W/F 9-11:30. It is going to be weird to have two and half hours to myself on those days. Good time to do homework and clean the house I guess!
After school I asked Trace how his day was and if he made any new friends. He told me "Well there is one boy... I was playing with a toy.. and he kind of took it." Haha I didn't know if he was trying to tell me that boy was his friend now or if he didn't make any friends. I am just glad he wants to go back this week. I am proud of our little guy and love watching him grow.

Back To School Day

This week Trace and I went to back to school day at his preschool. We got a letter a couple weeks ago about his school getting remodeled. When we got there they gave us a scavenger hunt to go explore the new school. I love his newly remodeled school.
They have a room for reading time.
A Room to learn and do their assignments.
Then they also have a play/snack room which is kind of divided into two. It is honestly so cute and Trace was so excited to see it. He can't wait to start! They gave us a list of his classmates and I was so glad to see that there were five other boys in his class! Last year there were only two others. He really needs some boys to play with. He is surrounded by girls in our neighborhood. His first day is Monday and of course I will be posting about it! :)

Give me a "break." -What daddy signed on Brooklyn's cast.

This last Tuesday I took Brookie to the clinic to get her cast put on. Before they could even ask, she informed them that she wanted a pink cast! She actually seemed excited to get a the cast put on. The doctor asked me if she was a wild child and I told him she wasn't. He told me that with children who are a little more wild they usually put a cast on past the elbow, but since she wasn't she would have a simple short one.  I was so glad to hear this because that meant she would be able to do more in school which would make her happy.
It was pretty stormy the morning after she got her cast on so she wasn't able to wear short sleeve to show off her awesome pink cast. I'm sure she still found a way to show it off the best she could though! Also this past week she received her first homework assignments.  She has been able to write with her cast on and has done pretty well! She never complains about the cast even when it is tough to write. Such a trooper! We are suppose to read 20 minutes a night and she has really been improving and says she enjoys reading. I hope she continues to enjoy reading. I keep telling her the more she reads the better and easier it will become for her.
I have been coming up with different ideas for her lunches. Recently I found these awesome peanut butter cups to go. I think they are perfect for apples and crackers. I keep asking her if she enjoys her lunches from home or if she wishes she ate school lunch like the majority of the kids. She always tells me she likes her lunches. I don't know if she really does or just doesn't want to hurt my feelings. Even though she is only six, she is very considerate of others feelings.
Remember me telling the doctor that she wasn't a wild child? One day after school she was playing in the family room and I hear some sort of a thud. I look over and she is doing a back-bend off the couch and flipping over!! I was like "You can't do that with a cast on!" She just laughed and asked me why. Maybe I was wrong to tell the doctor she wasn't wild!
My pretty little pink girl. From her hair to her shoes.
This is what she thinks about getting ready for school instead of getting to play the Wii with Trace in the morning!
After I took these pictures this morning, I started to review them and I couldn't believe how grown up she is getting. It really is so exciting and fun to watch her grow up into this beautiful little girl but it is also very hard for me. Some days I get so caught up in cleaning, homework, and life that I forgot to snuggle her while she still lets me. I have to remind myself that cleaning, homework, and other priorities have to wait sometimes because family is the most important thing  and I don't ever want my family to feel second best to anything. They are everything to me!

First week of all day school

We have officially made it through the first week of First grade. It has been a crazy week for Brookie. After school on Wednesday we took her to the Insta care by our house to find out that her arm is broken and will have to be in a cast. Right now she has it in a splint and a sling. She has done so well adjusting though.
At school her teacher tapes down her paper so that she can write/color with her left hand better. I can't believe how well she is doing with it. Mine wouldn't even look that good!
She is such a strong little girl. She hasn't complained about her arm one bit. She will occasionally ask if she can have a break from the sling but that's it.. She just keeps on smiling.
Today is her first week of full day school. Last week all the students went from 8:40-1:15 which kind of felt like Kindergarten to her. This week however it's 8:40-3:15. Hopefully she wont mind the few extra hours. It will be kind of weird without her being around for that long. At least she is enjoying school! On Friday she was so excited to tell me she met a new friend named Sam. She kept telling me how nice and fun she was. I was so so so excited for her to meet a new friend that is in her class! It will be fun when she can play at recess without worrying so much about hurting her arm. She will be getting her cast on tomorrow and I will be posting pictures! I think she is kind of excited that kids can color on her cast.

1st day of First Grade- August 20th, 2014

This Monday evening we had Brooklyn's back to school night. The school sent us out a letter that was suppose to tell us what class she was going to be in. The letter didn't come until Saturday and it had the wrong name on it. We didn't know anything really when we went to back to school night. Once we got to the office, they told us how they had some students stuff the envelopes and they didn't realize the name on the letters needed to match the name on the envelopes. Haha. We learned that her teacher this year is Mrs. Tilley.  It  kind of confused me at first because she is a Kindergarten teacher. She is also the sister to Brooklyn's Kindergarten teacher. When we went to meet with her, she told me that she just found out two days ago that she would be teaching First grade instead of Kindergarten. One thing I don't like too much is that she is in the Kindergarten hall instead of being with all the other  first grade classes. I guess it will be okay. I really do like her teacher. This year since Trace has Preschool three days a week and for about three hours, I volunteered to help in Brooklyn's class every Friday. Hopefully she wont mind her mom hanging around since she is only in First grade! :)

Last night I put Brooklyn in bed around 9pm to help her get plenty of rest. The poor little girl couldn't sleep at all. Yesterday, She tried doing a new gymnastics trick and hurt her arm. I don't think she broke it but it still bothers her. Around 2am I crawled into bed with her to help her sleep better. 6:30 this morning I woke up to a very nervous little girl. I asked her what was wrong. She said, "I am worried that I will have to write and color with my arm that hurts." She was almost in tears and it broke my heart. I explained to her I would tell the teacher what was going on and she wouldn't have to worry about it. If it continues to hurt I might be taking her in to the doctor tonight.

After I finished getting her ready I got her lunch ready. Tyler and I decided this year to try to pack Brooklyn's lunch each day rather than have her eat school lunch. When I was growing up I almost always ate school lunch and Tyler never did. I think he really enjoyed having his mom pack his lunch and wanted me to do the same for our kids. I found some cute ideas on Pinterest on how to make home lunches more fun for kids. Last night I found the awesome Cinderella containers and thought they would be perfect for her lunches. I also found a cute sandwich cutter that cuts it into hearts, I think she will enjoy that.

It was really hard for me to watch her go into her classroom today. I can't believe she is in First grade. I am going to miss her being around at home all day. She is the sweetest girl and always is looking for ways to make my days better. I am so very blessed to be her mom. I hope she has the best year and I am so excited to watch her learn and grow.

PS. If anyone has good Lunch ideas please text me with them or leave them in the comments! I need something besides sandwiches for her! :)
